About Framerole

Framerole it's a universal modular RPG. Main difference with any other traditional universal/generic rules is that they usually consist of a set of rules that are applied to every setting and atmosphere. What I wanted to do was a system completely adaptable, a kind of rules 'on demand'. A system that could emulate easily any traditional or modern roleplaying game rules.

Framerole is an absolutely easy system to hack. So easy that it should be enough to add modules to work.

Basically the system is completely modular: rules are built just by adding modules. All of them can be replaced or eliminated. Each module fulfills a specific function in the roleplaying game so it doesn't interfere with other modules. Depending on the modules you add you can have a traditional old school game or a indie one. You can emulate most of rule systems out there or you can just build something in between. You can pick up modules from the book and add your own: my idea was to create something completely modular, hackable and open.

You'll find three sections in the book:

An intro where you can find several examples of what you could do with the rules. I'm not telling you to do so. It's up to you to decide how to design your game. This is more about giving an idea of how it could work.

A quick start guide was added. It gives the basic steps to build your own rule system. Be aware that Framerole has no rules by default: you have to decide which modules you want to add according to the game you want.

The core tools. Here are the rules that manage the basic vocabulary and performance of the game, as well as the different elements of the modules and their format. The system is designed to work just only adding modules, so even though rules have no limitations, they have to suit a format that allows the whole system to work.

Modules. And here are the modules that can cover a big bunch of possibilities. From traditional rules about combat and magic or power, to rules about psychology, conflicts, rewards, relations, horror, mini games, investigation and other ones.
